Lemongrass tea: properties and benefits

    From time to time, some tea appears in the media as the “miraculous” and becomes the darling of 10 out of 10 women who care about aesthetics and health. However, despite having a lot of unnecessary spotlight, some plants, fruits and herbs are really powerful when it comes to taking care of our health and beauty. This is the case, for example, with lemon grass.

    Originally from India, brought to Spain by colonists, lemongrass has antibacterial power, is soothing, diuretic, antispasmodic, analgesic, expectorant, antidepressant, digestive and disinfectant, as well as helping to prevent cancer cells. It is a plant rich in properties such as manganese, vitamins A, B and C, folic acid, magnesium, zinc, copper, iron, potassium, phosphorus and calcium.

    Faced with so many properties and vitamins, Lemon grass is indicated to fight and prevent various diseases such as fluid retention, gas, various stomach problems, insomnia, muscle pain, high blood pressure, menstrual cramps and diarrhea. It is also indicated for the control of oiliness of the skin and hair and for the treatment of acne.

    To make the tea, just one spoon of lemongrass is enough for every cup of water. Infuse the hot liquid for about 10 minutes. Always give preference to fresh herbs of organic origin, as the properties are better preserved in this case.

    If you intend to make a compress to relieve ailments such as arthritis, osteoarthritis and muscle pain, boil half a glass of herb with a glass of water for two minutes. Then, place the leaves inside a thin cloth as if forming a bundle and apply in the region for 20 to 40 minutes. If you prefer or only have the dry leaves at your disposal, grind as much as you can and when they reach the consistency of powder, add as much warm water as is enough to form a paste. Apply this paste on the affected region for the same time.



    Like any tea, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, It is recommended that you talk to your doctor before consumption.. People who already take medication for high blood pressure or with a sedative effect may have the effect potentiated by consuming lemongrass tea, so moderate consumption is recommended.
