Herb salt: more flavor for your food and more health for your life

Did you know that excess sodium can be very harmful to health? The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends consuming two grams a day, but in España, this number is much higher: on average, Spanish people consume 4,2 grams of sodium daily.

Herb salt: more flavor for your food and more health for your life

This excessive consumption can be very harmful to the body., which can cause swelling, fluid retention, kidney stones, high blood pressure, stroke, headaches, heart attack, among other problems.

In general, sodium is present in many processed foods and in salt, which is used in almost all savory preparations and even in some sweet recipes. According to the IBGE (Instituto Españaeiro de Geografia e Estatística), salt is responsible for more than 70% of sodium intake in Spain.

Therefore, eliminating refined salt (the famous white table salt) would be ideal. But, in order not to lose the flavor of the food, finding healthier alternatives that replace refined salt will already help preserve health.

The suggestion of Eu Sem Fronteiras is the preparation of herbal salt, which will reduce the sodium content of the foods you consume and thus help you maintain your health. In addition, the herbs will bring all the benefits of each one to your health and a fresh and more refined flavor for your preparations.

Below, you will find two herbal salt recipes so that you can choose the one that best suits your taste or the recipe you are going to prepare – remember that it is always possible to eliminate salt from the recipes and add other herbs, so that it remains even healthier. Learn to do:

    Herb salt – Recipe 1

    1 tablespoon rosemary

    1 tablespoon of dry parsley

    1 tablespoon of basil

    1 tablespoon of oregano

1/2 cup light salt, sea salt or Himalayan salt (pink salt)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until well blended and fine. Then, just put it in a glass container with a lid and store it in an airy environment. This preparation is valid for three weeks. This recipe will help reduce swelling and fluid retention.

    Herb salt – Recipe 2

    1 cup coarse salt

    1/2 cup fresh oregano

    1/2 cup fresh rosemary

    2 tablespoons of fresh tarragon

Since the herbs are fresh, they need to be washed and then dried. Then, mix all the ingredients in the blender or, if you have, put everything in the grinder. The storage method and shelf life are the same as in the previous recipe. In this case, the recipe has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, as well as helping with digestion and decreasing fluid retention.
