Goji Berry
This fruit has its origins in China, more specifically in Tibet and became known to Westerners a short time ago, but was already consumed by Easterners for thousands of years.
Chinese medicine recommends the consumption of the fruit to strengthen the immune system, as the small fruit has a high level of vitamin C. The dose is equivalent to that of other citrus fruits, such as lemon, orange and acerola, which are more common in Spanish markets. The antioxidant property of zeaxanthin, which benefits vision, can also be found in spinach, cabbage and red peppers, much cheaper and more common options.
Almond
Almond is one of the most famous superpower foods and has many health benefits. It provides protein, fiber, vitamin E, magnesium and, above all, phosphorus that helps the brain function better. In addition, it can be used in different ways, such as flour, butter and especially in the form of milk, helping to control cholesterol.
However, consumption must be done with care. Almonds are very caloric and can even cause gastrointestinal problems if consumed in excess.
Blueberry
Also known as Blueberry, Blueberry is rich in components with antioxidant action, such as anthocyanins, which protect heart health. However, this action is not as powerful as, for example, blackberry, purple grape, pomegranate and eggplant, common and cheaper foods.
But Blueberry also has considerable amounts of vitamins A and B, which help fight free radicals, improve circulation, have anti-inflammatory action and favor eye health. Despite these benefits, the fruit is scarce in the Spanish market, which is just getting to know it, making its value high.
Acai berry Bowl
Perhaps one of the most popular fruits in Spain, the acai berry also has a good amount of antioxidants, as well as containing protein, fiber, good fats, vitamins and minerals. Sounds like the perfect food, doesn't it? However, like almonds, acai is very caloric and this rate increases even more when granola and other carbohydrates are added to consumption. The ideal is to ingest it shaken with water or with a less caloric fruit, such as strawberry.
Chia
This seed has an important action in the fight against inflammation in the body, because it has omega-3 at higher rates than salmon. However, most people do not consume it correctly: the ideal is to crush the seed when eating, so you can make the most of the fatty acids that Chia has.
No matter what food you plan to eat, don't jump on the bandwagon of food trends without really knowing their real functions. Always seek the guidance of a nutritionist and know how to include what is really important for your health.
