Soothing Tea: Pineapple, Passion Fruit and Spices

In addition to being a good source of vitamin C, pineapple, passion fruit and spice tea is sweetened with demerara sugar. Uncommon in our kitchens, this sugar undergoes a light refinement process, does not receive any chemical additives and has high nutritional values โ€‹โ€‹compared to refined sugar. This is a great tea to soothe.

Its nutritional content is similar to that of brown sugar, however, when it comes to cooking, there is a big difference between them: the taste. Brown sugar has a strong flavor, reminiscent of brown sugar. Demerara, on the other hand, has a less pronounced flavor, better replacing refined sugar in mild-tasting preparations, such as the recipe below:

1/2 cup demerara sugar
Pulp of a passion fruit
4 slices of pineapple, chopped
6 carnations
3 cinnamon sticks
Mineral water


Preparation

In a pan, place the sugar with 1/4 cup of water and wait for a syrup to form; Add the fruit and spices and cook for five minutes. Add 1 liters of water and boil for ten minutes. Strain and serve with a slice of orange and a piece of cinnamon.
