Diet Aid in Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome is a set of symptoms that often manifests itself without changes in laboratory and imaging tests, but their intensity leads the patient to despair, depression, anxiety, social isolation, among other inconveniences. However, the syndrome has a psychosomatic cause, that is, it is "activated" by an emotional problem, thus generating a vicious cycle where emotional problems lead to symptoms and symptoms worsen emotional problems. The syndrome can present itself in three ways: Constipated, Diarrheic or Mixed (ie, it alternates between one and the other). To control the crisis, it is essential to take care of the emotional (that is, eliminate the cause of the problem), but also of food, since it is a period when the digestive system is more sensitive.



For diarrheal people, I recommend:

Diet Aid in Irritable Bowel SyndromeHomemade rice milk (purchased has a lot of preservative): it's super cheap and easy to make, the recipe can be found on the internet. You can take 3 to 4 times a day, during breakfast, snack or meal break. Be careful if you are diabetic (a lot of carbs).

Chamomile tea + fennel or fennel + mint + lemon balm (3x a day always cold).

Granola (dry) without milk or yogurt: it can be with a fruit (banana or apple, for example) or pure.

Rice without seasoning, just with water and salt, cooked or grilled chicken breast with natural seasonings (onion, garlic, parsley), grilled or roasted fish.

AVOID:

Dairy products, beans, animal fat, margarine, sweets, soft drinks and industrialized juice, vegetables, vegetables such as beets, ripe pumpkin, eggplant, etc., which usually loosen the intestines.

For the constipated, I recommend:

Ripe pumpkin at will (sweet, in beans, soup, sautรฉed etc.), beetroot, eggplant, vegetables especially lettuce and chicory.

AVOID:

Dry fibers such as granola mainly, prefer fibers that come from fruits, vegetables and fresh vegetables, excess protein (meat, eggs etc.), do not overdo it with rice or consume rice milk. And, remember, physical activity helps in both cases, as it improves blood circulation, reduces stress, improves peristalsis, among other benefits. Meditation also helps to relax and, with that, control the desire or not to evacuate from an emotional cause.
