Use Kokology to get to know yourself

Created by two Japanese, Isamu Sato and Tagahiko Nagao, Kokology has been used by more and more people. It is a test of self-knowledge, where spontaneity is the main requirement for good performance.

The word 'Kokologia' is a mixture of two words: 'kokoro', from the Japanese language, which means mind, and 'logia', of Greek origin, which means study. Therefore, we can define Kokology as the study of the mind.

The test works like a game, where there is a story or series of questions that the individual must answer or complete with the first thing or word that comes to their mind. It is worth mentioning that there is no wrong or right answer, although there are often ready-made answers that will make the person choose the alternative most similar to what he imagined.

Here's an example of the test:

    1. A very rare stone is hidden in a mountain, and in order to get your hands on it, you'll have to climb it. Close your eyes and imagine this situation. Now, answer: What is your first impression of this mountain?
    2. After much searching for that stone, you still haven't found it. And it's not long before the search ends, because the sun is already setting. What strategy will you use? What are you going to do in this new situation?
    3. Now imagine that you finally found the stone. Describe what it looks like, the size, the type and estimate a value for it.
    4. It's time to go home. After making your way back down to the ground, you turn around, look at the mountain, and say something to it. What do you say and what will she answer you?

    RESPONSES

Remember that there is no right or wrong answer.

    1. The mountain is the reflection of your father. That is, she is the image you have of your father.
    2. The strategy you adopted from the moment the sun went down is the way you deal with obstacles and problems that come your way.
    3. The stone is a reflection of your self-esteem.
    4. What you say to the mountain and its response to you is the kind of dialogue you would like to have with your father.
