The edge of resilience

The word of the moment is resilience. Maybe because of the pandemic moment or the complexity and dynamism of our "new normal", I don't know, but what makes me outraged about these times is the number of times we have to do and remake ourselves to survive intolerance, envy and constant need for destruction promoted by some.

Let's get back to the word. If we look in the dictionary, we will find resilience as the characteristic of bodies that, after suffering some deformation or shock, return to their original shape. From a personal point of view, being resilient is the ability to adapt in the midst of adversity.

It is true that we need to participate in this constant evolutionary process - which is life - to become resilient and adapt even in adversity, but these days I caught myself thinking about why so much adversity created?

The elastic has its characteristic of elasticity, of obeying a certain limit of the same, and that, when exceeded, it deforms, being impossible to return to the original shape. Therefore, even believing in the need to be more tolerant and more “adaptable”, I wonder why people insist on being the “adversity” of others?

Resilience is unfortunately being romanticized to the point that suffering and fighting madly for something is a beautiful thing, an act of courage. But it's just that so many people enjoy seeing each other crashing, running from one side to the other, that they forget that resilience has a limit and follows a fine line between success and failure.

We struggle so much just to survive, or not just to survive, but to exist in the midst of this stone jungle, which is not taking long for elasticity to lose its properties. Nothing is XNUMX% adaptable all the time. Let's stop hurting, hindering or diminishing the struggle of the other. Because in the end we are all in the same boat and we will be judged the same wherever our essence goes.
