    Week 31 - Love

    Leviticus 21:1 – 24:23

    124 verses

The Emor portion teaches us about the purification of the priests, as well as about the festivities and solemnities observed by the Israelites.

β€œThe solemnities of the Eternal, which ye shall proclaim as holy convocations, these shall be My fixed solemnities.” (Leviticus 23:1-2)

The Omer, a measure of barley, was offered for G‑d to bless the new harvest. Kabbalah teaches us that counting the Omer, seven weeks between Passover and Shavuot, serves for our internal purification and preparation for receiving the light of immortality, contained in the Torah.

The Shabbat of Emor prepares us for the reception of the Light of Lag B'Omer, the "day of the revelation of secrets", when we celebrate the anniversary of the passing of Rav Shimon Bar Yochai, who revealed the Zohar, bringing our consciousness to the level to β€œtaste and see that the Light of the Creator is good”.

    Shavua Tov!

A great week for all of us!
