One of the premises about living well is around the concept of carpe diem, that is, the idea of ​​living each day as if it were your last. It's a good way to deal with the routines you face on a daily basis, but just like everything in life, it should also be viewed with caution. We must enjoy every day, but we must also be prepared for tomorrow. The idea of ​​“spending dinner to pay for lunch” is something dangerous and can cause problems in the future.
To arrive at “knowing how to live”, we first need to understand the meaning of life for us. What is living for you? What are your priorities? What is it worth to focus efforts to achieve goals, dreams and desires? Based on definitions such as these, it is possible to better understand what “knowing how to live” means.
After reflecting on what life is, then we can think about actions to know how to live. And a new challenge arises: the difference between theory and practice. It will not always be possible to do what we want; in fact, it's a wonder when we manage to synchronize and simultaneously carry out the “want”, the “ought” and the “can”, although this is very rare. Almost never what I want is what I owe, nor what I owe is what I can and what I can is not what I want.
From these limitations, which may be intrinsic to us, society or other factors, we need to determine what needs to be done to supply something that we cannot do in order to satisfy our lives. Therefore, only when we understand what is living it is possible to define not only one, but several actions so that we can literally “know how to live”.
