Goodbye! I went to live and I don't go back... to the past!

“Every day when I wake up,

I no longer have the time that has passed,

but I have plenty of time.”

    (Renato Russo, Tempo Perdido)

This could be happening to you. You try, until the moment you decide to give up…you give in to despair, sadness, or lack of faith in yourself. You are stuck in the past and your life is like a vicious circle, reliving, rehashing events that are no longer part of your life at the moment.

Do you want to continue like this?

Dear reader, life is much more than that. Know that every day we fill our notebook of existence with a new story; not all are pleasant, however, the learning remains. As in a book, the pages must be turned, after being read and understood.

Obviously, if some pleasurable or uplifting event comes to mind, it's a delight to relive it… sometimes it even seems like we feel the same emotion as when it happened, right?

But what about when there are bad things, unpleasant images that don't leave our minds, that populate our thoughts and become dominant, limiting and harmful beliefs to our mental and spiritual well-being?

Answer: do you consider it fair to be tied to the past, when there is a life out there waiting for you? How have you been dealing with all this?

Remember that self-forgiveness is holy medicine. Forgive yourself! You are human, you have unique characteristics that deserve respect; if one day you achieve success, it may be that on another day things don't turn out as well as expected… then you decide what to do with the question: will it be a disappointment or a lesson?

Make peace with yourself and repeat as many (a thousand) times as necessary that yes, you accept yourself the way you are, you own your life and deserve the best! Say it in front of the mirror, if you can, while observing and admiring what a wonderful and unique being you are. Every day you have a new chance and it seems unfair to us to stop in time because of mistakes and disappointments. Free yourself!

Seek help if necessary. A professional can guide you through this phase and give it time. Live each moment, feeling ready for life's surprises; savor the present, the hours lived, keep in mind that the past will not return, and the future… well, it can be a reflection of your present, so if you have been living bitter, disappointed and sad… ?

Goodbye! I went to live and I don't go back... to the past!

Work through conflicting issues objectively and let go of everything that causes you pain. Let go, clear your mind, of course it takes time and dedication, but the results are amazing. Be the driver of your change and catalyst of good energies; learn from your mistakes instead of judging yourself; listen to those who love you and ask for help whenever you need it. During your day, reaffirm your commitment to love yourself unconditionally; respect yourself, value yourself and rediscover yourself.

Some exercises can help you release fears, frustrations and attachment to the past, such as those suggested by NLP practice, for example, among many creative visualization exercises. May I help you?

    Exercise

Connecting to the present and letting go of the past:

Sitting comfortably with your eyes closed, breathe slowly until you get a pleasant feeling and a proper rhythm. Imagine yourself in a peaceful, quiet place. Feel the good vibe of the place, notice the details, a breeze caressing your face, feel your feet touching the ground as you walk just ahead.

Then, you see your mistakes flying over space, and the bad sensations come back to disturb you... this is the moment when you should focus on those sensations that trigger all the limitation so that you don't get out of this suffering.

Allow yourself to cry. Walk a little further until you see a stream…you will cross it, feeling tired, crying, still, walk…feel the water touching your feet and the coolness on your skin…you should focus now on this sensation…that in seconds it will take care of you. The breeze still follows him. And so you cross the river, feeling fresh, having your face cleansed of tears and having nothing to think about…since you have taken on the task of crossing the river. Yes, you crossed the river! You followed, you took the first step and new sensations invaded you as you did so. Now, on this side of the river, surprises will befall you, but you don't know…because you only stuck to the task of crossing it, you simply lived in the moment.

Perform this exercise in those times when you feel despair take over, take refuge in this task…crossing the river and stopping for the moment.

    So what?

Then… live your life! Focus on good things, good people, listen to advice from those who love you and go at your own pace. Heart and mind thank you!

Let go of what causes you pain! Dare to be happy, free from limiting beliefs and unnecessary suffering. Life is wise...it delivers you from bad things, when you think it took something away from you, it only delivered you!
