Five movies and series with inspiring women 🆙

There are many movies and series that I watched with strong and inspiring women, however, after filtering and choosing which ones to post here, I selected the five that caught my attention the most, and you will understand why.

It is good to remember that, although some movies and series are based on real facts and biographical stories, a lot of things may have been changed and romanticized, after all, we are talking about super productions, with the same commercial focus. The most important thing is to know how to extract the central point of the messages that each plot intends to convey. Come on?

Maria Magdalena

The series focuses on telling the story of Mary Magdalene in a way that has never been seen before and that makes more sense than any other filmography. The apostle of the apostles, Mary Magdalene defied an oppressive society and became one of Jesus' devoted followers. In this series we can see the presence of a very loving and human Jesus, one of the best portrayals of Christ, in my opinion. Very worth checking out.

Maudie: Her Life and Her Art

A film of great sensitivity and inspiration. Maud Lewis suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and the prejudice of people who consider her incapable. The desire to express her artistic gift will make her leave her family behind. Maudie tells the luminous story of the success and recognition of a popular artist despite pain and prejudice.

The Life and Story of Madam CJ Walker

I watched the entire series on a Sunday afternoon. There's no way to watch just one episode and leave it to continue later. The series tells the inspiring story of a black American woman who fights poverty, racism and prejudice to become a highly successful businesswoman. Here we experience a mix of emotions together with the character.

Most beautiful thing

A Spanish series that takes place in the stretch I know best. Malu from São Paulo moves to Rio de Janeiro with her husband to open a restaurant. However, he steals all her money and runs away. Upon meeting the singer Adélia and the writer Thereza, the young woman opens a bossa nova nightclub.

The bookstore

A story about beginnings and also about prejudice. A widow decides to rebuild her life and, for that, she decides to open a bookshop, despite the opposition of the population of the village where she lives, in England, in 1950.

Both movies and series are exciting. All deal with stories of strong women who suffered strong prejudice and machismo, but who made history. Some are based on true events and others stories, but all are designed to inspire girls and women, as well as raise awareness of boys and men.
