A hundred ways to make a difference in people's lives - Chapter 63

CHAPTER 63 – ANSWER E-MAILS, MESSAGES IN GENERAL AND RETURN PHONE CALLS!

Well, don't be offended, dear reader, but with all due respect to the scribe, it's necessary to say: if you don't like to return messages and calls, leave social networks, communication apps, remove your number from the lists and everything will be solved, simple as that! Truth!

Before, 20 or 30 years ago, a person's importance was measured by the number of barriers between him and others, such as secretaries, assistants and so on. Today, in the midst of instant global communication, some joker must have arbitrated that this importance is measured by the time it takes to respond to messages and, in an almost godlike character, the act of ignoring and moving on! And take the other's move to the corner or the attitude of ignoring messages and niceties attached, as if the other was less than the "vice thing of the sub-section"! It is a brutal contradiction: the smaller the possibility of messages being lost, which is what happens nowadays, the more and more they are lost due to the absence of habits of civility, even a small thing in the immense flow of rules of good manners.

Surprise people A LOT, but A LOT, just by quickly responding to messages of them, and also don't be one: “Aware. I'll see that later. Thanks!". Set aside time, half an hour a day, whatever, to read and answer messages and return phone calls! Show, with this gesture of great simplicity, that you recognize the importance of each person and that you feel good just being remembered. A good metric for this is: treat people as you would like to be treated and everything will work itself out. Therefore, fewer souls will go to the depths after the end of time!

A bit of (real) mischief to illustrate this little bit of the book: an acquaintance, very tired of being frustrated with unanswered messages, all of them sent to people he dear and from whom he had heard repeated vows of eternal friendship, decided to show those people his indignation… and acted! He downloaded one of those applications called “robot” and registered all the friends who ignored him and his messages and programmed the perverse system to send every day, hourly, one of the motivational phrases cataloged in its own file, each one signed by him, his name and addresses all right, including the phrase:

"Look! I remember you every hour, so I ask you to remember me ONLY ONCE, answer the messages I send you and that you think they are important. If I return at least THAT one, I'll stop saying I remember you… every hour!”. There was no other: many friends sent messages with supplications to apologize for the absence and returns, in addition to those classic excuses such as “I hadn't seen it”, “I was stuck in the entry filters”, “is it a rush, sacumé?”. Anyway…
