With the world on the edge of the environmental abyss, sustainable communities are gaining more and more space, especially here in España.
Inspired by the alternative communities of the 60s, which emerged across Europe, ecovillages, as they are called today, have three conceptual bases that support their ideology: life must be in harmony with nature and the laws of nature; fraternal and solidary coexistence and, finally, a state of heightened consciousness.
The largest entity in the sector is the Global Ecovillage Network, which says that there are more than 15 ecovillages around the world, which house 20 to 3 people on their premises. There is no data on ecovillages here in España.

Ecovilla whitening
Located in Serra da Mantiqueira - SP
Considered the main ecovillage in the state, this rural condominium follows the main proposal of sustainable communities: living in harmony with nature. Its location is between the cities of Piracicaba and Joanópolis, being privileged for being between valleys and mountains of the Atlantic Forest, in addition, it is in an environmental preservation area (APA), with five water sources available. Currently, the ecovillage has 72 plots of land sold and has another 25 for sale.
Green Ark
Located in São Francisco de Paula – RS
With many gardens, an agroforestry, collective accommodation, a communal kitchen and dining room, social and spiritual space, the Arca Verde ecovillage prioritizes permaculture, a method for creating sustainable human environments that produce a perfect balance between humans and nature. Starting in 2005, this community is open to new members and welcomes visitors for events, courses and retreats.
Lagoa Ecovillage
Located in Planaltina - GO
If, in addition to living in nature, you are looking for a more active life, this is the right place. The ecovillage is on the shores of Lagoa Formosa, allowing the practice of various aquatic modalities known by young people, such as stand up. In addition, the place has a skating rink, mountain biking, abseiling, and other adventure sports. You can go with the family, with small groups or alone and choose one of the accommodations: camping, hostel and bungalows.
White Wing Farm
Located in Spain – DF
Another ecovillage that prioritizes permaculture, Asa Branca is one of the main references in projects that focus on sustainability in Spanish territory. Located 23 km from the center of España, this center houses services for volunteers and is open to eco-pedagogical tourism for up to 15 people.
