Care involving animals has increased and proof of this was the opening, at the end of 2016, of the first public veterinary hospital in Porto Alegre (RS). The VictĂłria Veterinary Hospital is located in Lomba do Pinheiro, on the border between the capital and ViamĂŁo.
He will work in the care of stray animals. Many of these animals are victims of abuse and the NGOs that recover them need to rely on the help of veterinary clinics, to cover expenses, and the population that makes donations of materials. The hospital is also intended for those owners of dogs and cats who cannot afford treatment for their animals. Isn't it really a beautiful initiative?
Serving those who need it most
The enterprise was built by businessman Alexandre Grendene and is named after his daughter Victoria. The veterinary hospital must attend to about 270 animals per day. But only this number can be confirmed on a day-to-day basis to see how everything will work. Also because it is believed that this number should be higher, because medium and high complexity procedures will be included.
The veterinary hospital also has five surgical blocks, four offices, an intensive care unit, a blood bank and physiotherapy and chemotherapy centers. It is a good structure to serve those who need it most: abandoned cats and dogs or victims of abuse.
The initiative is celebrated by many animal protection NGOs. It is possible that, in this region, NGOs can “unburden” the number of animals and thus work only on recovery and shelter in the streets, leaving the treatments to the veterinary hospital. The work represents an advance. At this time when there was so much sad and heavy news, this deserves to be celebrated. After all, pets thank you!
