What are the gifts we offer?

When I discovered the Japanese technique of wrapping – furoshiki – I was delighted with the delicacy of the folds, fabrics and colors that involved this harmonious possibility of wrapping a gift. There are several prints, textures and types of binding to wrap any object with fabrics.

Right away, I wanted to learn: out of curiosity and also for the beauty of the proposal. Wrapping gifts with this method became my goal for the next few months. I had a lot of people to give gifts, and I wanted to give each of them a gift wrapped in this type of wrapping.

The pattern of the fabrics used is beautiful. It is possible to observe it in traditional Japanese prints – many artists have already been inspired by them.

I learned the art of wrapping and soon I went to deliver my first gift packaged in this way. People get emotional when they are gifted in a special way. They internalize the message of the gesture. There is so much intrinsic beauty in this simple art of wrapping, which must be why it is beautiful for both the giver and the receiver.

I gifted by wrapping the object through this technique. However, in addition to folds, colors, textures and patterns, what I learned goes beyond all that.

When we buy a gift, we are usually willing to make someone happy, regardless of the commercial value of the product itself. When wrapping a gift using the furoshiki method, I believe that we leave a positive energy in the gesture. Something we donate, even if it's our time.

That's how we can be when we walk around the world. We can distribute our most beautiful gifts to each other which, of course, are not objects, but have the same beauty as the gifts wrapped by the Japanese technique. Sometimes easy to fold, resulting in perfect packaging. At other times it is not so simple and we leave the defects on display, but even so, we offer our best.
