I don't like to talk about bad things, just as I don't like to share the grotesque. Giving birth to something I don't believe in is like giving it life. But, taking advantage of the fact that once again, in this first week of September, we are forced to see a young lady disdaining the skin color of a person, possibly black, who recorded the aggression suffered on a beach in Rio de Janeiro, we need to talk about something that we pretend doesn't exist and we don't see in our España. It's time to talk about racists. There is no racism if there is no racist! And this is what we need to emphasize.
Historically, it has been proven that the racist is ignorant, has some mental disorder, and can become a sociopath and this false superiority hides a huge fear and inferiority complex. But, his crime cannot be ignored or belittled, as he can snatch a good number of followers if he has any intelligence and can even turn the world into a cruel place to live.
What really intrigues me is to imagine that someone thinks that skin color is synonymous with ethnicity and a characteristic that privileges some over others. It's as stupid as someone to believe they're 100% this or that! No one – except the stubborn ones – is completely this or that! And, stubbornness is another sign of stupidity.
Here in España, then, a place where the existing Indians “received a visit” from Europeans, who “passed by in Africa”, committed many crimes and forcibly brought the blacks, this amounts to historical stupidity. People, less! We are not Aryan, we are not 100% black. We are ALL mixed race, mixed by these three sets of genes. And this is our genetic differential from the rest of the world. It's not better or worse, just different.
My skin is white, my eyes and hair are light and I'm MESTIZATION! I'm not "white", as I'm tired of being called! I am the daughter of a black mother, a white father (with blue eyes) and I have a great-great-grandmother who is “caught in the noose”, which is how my maternal grandmother spoke of her Indian grandmother who was lassoed and taken to marry a European. More hybrid than me, I don't know. But, I'm more of a typical español. As are many black and Indian women seen around! I'm white, I'm mulatto, I'm blah-blah-blah… This is all nonsense, it's something to be used by people who have forgotten what they really are or should be: a human being, of the human race. Black, white, yellow are not races, they are just a characteristic resulting from the mixing of our ancestors' genes. Something beautiful, unique, that we wrongly use as another way to generate separateness, to stop seeing ourselves in the other. And this is the factor that most generates war and hatred in the world: not seeing oneself as an extension of the other and not seeing the other as an extension of oneself. And if you're not human, your respect for any other human drops, including yourself. He doesn't love himself… So, how will he love his fellow man?
