Every day we hear more about empowerment, and it comes in many forms. There are several campaigns aimed at empowering women and men, with different types of bodies and beauties. As a result, more and more people are accepting themselves as they are, and that includes, of course, the your curly hair.
Some time ago, the school Saint-Hilaire, located in Rio Grande do Sul, developed a project that, in addition to empowering children with curly hair, also runs an anti-bullying campaign. The project name is “Let Your Hair Down, Arrest Your Prejudice”.
The initiative encourages school children to accept their hair, whatever it may look like. In addition, the campaign also raises awareness so that they respect the differences that exist between people, thus preventing bullying within the school.
Second Larisse de Moraes, teacher and creator of the project, it emerged in the classroom based on a previous project to raise awareness among children, because she realized that the way children were treated was not the most appropriate, and so she sought solutions to make that environment a place more constructive for everyone.
Larisse still says that for 25 years she straightened her hair and did not accept that she was out of "standards", and even praises one of his students who wrote the following sentence:
When they talk about my hair, my heart gets tight, it doesn't bother me. I can't believe this hurts me so much. What's with my hair? I really do not know.
the school principal, Angelo Barbosa, said that the project brings a lot of joy, because by empowering children, they can put themselves in the world and face bullying attitudes “with the tranquility of someone who knows that prejudice is nonsense and if the other has prejudice, well, leave him alone with his prejudice.”
