Kabbalah Studies: Shemot

    Exodus 1:1-6:1

    124 verses

Shemot is the second book of the Torah, meaning names, in Hebrew, as it mentions the names of the children of Israel (Jacob) who went to Egypt. This book is also called Exodus, which means departure in Greek, as it relates the departure of the Hebrews from Egypt.

โ€œAnd these are the names of the children of Israel that came to Egyptโ€

    Exodus 1:1

The king of Egypt arose and went against the children of Israel. Pharaoh punishes the Israelites by giving them work as slaves. In fear, he orders all the firstborn of the Hebrew women to be killed. Moses, son of Hebrews, is saved and raised by Pharaoh's daughter. He flees Egypt, marrying Tsipora, daughter of Jethro, chief of Midian. Shepherding the flock, Moses comes across the angel of God in a burning bush. God instructs Moses to go to Pharaoh and free his people. The Pharaoh gets angry and orders the slaves' conditions to be harsher, giving them more forced labor.

โ€œAnd a new king arose over Egypt who did not know Joseph.โ€

    Exodus 1:8

When we do not recognize that our whole life is linked to the Eternal and that everything comes to us through the hands of the Creator, we live in darkness. Our life becomes a torment, and we live in a state of bondage and suffering.

    Kabbalah Studies: Shemot

All our prosperity in the physical world we live in (Malchut) is due to our consciousness linked to the spiritual worlds (here related to Joseph โ€“ Joseph).

โ€œAnd the angel of God appeared to him in a flame of fire in the midst of the bush.โ€

    Exodus 3:2

God speaks to us always. When we are focused, meditative, we can listen to the word of God, which instructs us how to face the Pharaoh, our ego, within us, which imprisons us and keeps us slaves to his power.

We are here in this world to fulfill our soul mission, not to imprison ourselves in inhuman and meaningless material life. We have to face our internal enemy, which wants to destroy us and move us away from the main thing, which is freedom and the end of death in every way.

    Face your negative side!

    Have a great week!

*We are starting the new year, 2018, as well as the studies of the second book of the Torah. Thus, this year is related to our freedom, towards a new life, with meaning and without the shackles of physical slavery.

Free yourself from your ego that imprisons you, walk towards fullness.

**New projects in progress. In-person lectures will resume in March/2018. Stay tuned.
