Try to imagine a person without hope. What would she look like? Surely she would be a faceless person, without courage, without joy, without soul, therefore a sad and lifeless person. Now, try to imagine a person with hope. What would she look like? Surely she would be a strong person, with soul, courage, determined, therefore a cheerful and happy person.

To fully understand the power of hope in our lives, we must, regardless of ideology, be people of faith. When we lose faith, dark clouds of despair hang over our heads. In other words, for those who do not believe in God, hope is nothing more than a mere illusion, something that will never be achieved.

It is like utopia for Eduardo Galeano. “Utopia is there on the horizon. I approach two steps, she moves two steps away. I walk ten steps, and the horizon runs ten steps. As far as I walk, I will never reach. What is utopia for? It serves this purpose: so that I do not stop walking.”

However, for those who have faith, for those who believe in God, hope is for this: so that we never lose heart; so that we never stop dreaming. Without hope, we are nothing. Hope is a feeling that makes life and human passions lighter, more meaningful. It is the proper field of belief, that impulse of a personal relationship with the sacred as an inner need. It is genuine hope.

Also, why do we waste so much time stuck to the ills of life? Why don't we make our lives happier? Why are we not able to value the best in human beings? Why is the man of today so distressed instead of being hopeful? How about we put our fears aside and fix our eyes beyond reality, to imagine another possible world?

The importance of hope in our lives is that it cleanses the discouragement that lodges in the human heart and frees us from human suffering, sadness and anguish. Due to the psychological and social benefits it provides, hope is the way to access human happiness. There is no complete happiness without the certainty that things will get better. From this hopeful behavior, there is also the natural tendency of human beings to believe in a better, glorious future, full of achievements.

For this, the education of hope must be included among the purposes of pedagogical action, which presupposes the ultimate knowledge of its mode of operation. That is, there is no selfish hope. Either we win them all, or we lose them all. Therefore, it is necessary to nourish oneself with hope.

In a society so selfish, so consumerist, so capitalist, so hedonistic, having hope is important for people to lead a less troubled life. With it, the human being has a more positively expanded view of the world. However, it is essential that we are more humanistic, so that we can follow our path lighter, happier and more fulfilled.

For philosopher Mario Sergio Cortella, “The most important thing in life, when we have nothing else, is hope, but it has to be the hope of the verb to hope, which means not to give up, and not the hope of the verb to wait, this is not hope, but hope. ”. Hopelessness makes everything difficult, regardless of belief.

Finally, contrary to what common sense imagines, hope is not the last to die. Hope, being hope, never dies. Whoever has hope knows that one day the storm will pass and the crying will stop; that fear is overcome, and confidence arrives; whoever is humbled will be exalted; and whoever has faith has God; and whoever has God has everything.
