Belief Change: The Fourth NLP Technique to Transform Your Mental Health

Today we are going to talk about the fourth NLP technique for you to make changes in your mental health.

TECHNIQUE #4: Change of Belief

In our life, there are beliefs that govern the way we see things around us, which end up giving us the power to act or to be completely inert and static in relation to something. So in practice, it is your beliefs that imply what experiences you will have as long as you are alive, which makes them very powerful if you think about it.

Well, there are three categories of beliefs:

  1. Beliefs that involve a cause;
  2. Beliefs that involve a meaning;
  3. Beliefs involving an identity.

All Activities they influence the world you live in. All. And that is precisely what this NLP technique "attacks". It aims to make you manage to change your behavior and make you prove new experiences. For example, we're all tired of hearing about that certain type of person who doesn't believe in relationships anymore because they've had a bad experience with someone, right? So it is. But that happens because the belief of this person is that because she had a bad relationship with someone, so, all of the same sex/style are the same.

And it's things like that that must be deconstructed from your mind.

So let's see what we need to do to change that.

How to change a belief:
  • Emphasize the positive facts about something more than the negative facts.

Belief Change: The Fourth NLP Technique to Transform Your Mental HealthLet's take the case of the failed relationship for example. It is impossible that all been bad during this experience. Right? Almost impossible. So what you should do is count every moment positive, everything that makes you smile when you remember that person in a positive way and list all these good times so that the positive facts outweigh the negative facts. You should make a list of all the advantages and great things you've tasted and felt, and put them next to the negative facts. Every smile, every good gesture, every affection, etc. and put it all on paper. And then, tests if those negative facts were really facts to further narrow down your interpretation of it. This is also very useful because there are many people who assume they were cheated on, for example, without actually being, because they don't know if that was a fact or not.

  • Spend 15 minutes a day affirming to yourself the INVERSE of your limiting belief

Here comes an approach in which you do a direct reprogramming in your mind, repeating daily the exact opposite of your belief that blocks your life. For example, if you believe you are incapable of something, then just repeat β€œI can do this, I can do this” and continue talking for approximately 15 minutes, in a closed and quiet room where only you can hear your voice. and only your voice. This will slowly induce you to self-hypnosis and the repeated phrase will end up in your unconscious, which is the place in our mind that is responsible for making a belief true or not. And then, within 40 days – guaranteed – you will start to see the results of this new belief implanted in your brain.
