And the worst, according to the World Health Organization, the WHO, anxiety affects more than ten million people worldwide. Ten million! And contrary to what many think, anxiety is a very serious disease that needs to be diagnosed, treated and controlled.

If it is not taken seriously and treatments are not established, Anxiety can evolve into worse things, such as panic attacks, deep depression and uncontrollable stress. The combination of all this can generate serious consequences, such as eating disorders (obesity, bulimia, anorexia, among others), self-mutilation or even suicide.

That's why it's so important that anxiety is no longer considered just a characteristic of the human being and starts to be seen as a serious pathology. And for that to happen, you need to know your symptoms.

Accelerated heartbeat, wheezing, headaches, muscle tension, diarrhea, stomach pains, tremors, insomnia and difficulty concentrating are some of the most common symptoms.

And what causes such a complex picture of anxiety? The causes can be different. Someone may feel anxious because of some responsibility they have – like paying bills every month, having kids, paying off a debt, etc. –, for exams that are close, school exams, college entrance exams, job interviews or even complex situations, such as terminal illnesses, difficulty in relating to others, fear of losing self-control, stress, among others.

But just like the causes and symptoms, the types of treatment for anxiety are also diverse. After all, each case is different, each person is a person and, in the case of this problem, nothing can be treated in a generalized way.

For anxiety to be fought, it is necessary, in fact, to treat each case as unique so that the person receives the appropriate treatment and can improve. Nonetheless, there are some behaviors and actions that we can all practice in our daily lives that help to improve anxious behaviors.

Close your eyes and take a few deep, calm, calm breaths. Repeat to yourself that you need to be calm to solve any situation and that if you can calm down and think rationally, surely the chance of you finding a solution to a given problem is much greater than if you get into a crisis. of anxiety.

Remember that the help of a professional is always very important. Anxiety must be treated as a very serious evil that can affect our lives in unimaginable and sometimes irrevocable ways.
