About limits and limitations

I notice that many people have been questioning themselves lately about their limits and how to recognize them. It is not clear which criterion should be adopted to analyze and understand how far we should go, understand at which point we should stop or change the course of the path.

Apparently, a reasoning that I have already recognized in myself is often used to find this answer. Mine was like this:

1 – I thought a lot, therefore, my mind was too fertile.

2 – Because my mind was too fertile, I had to be very organized.

3 – Because she had to be very organized, she was extremely detail-oriented.

4 – Because she was detail-oriented, she was methodical.

5 – Because I was methodical, I became very demanding (with myself and with others).

6 – Because she was very demanding, she was very annoying…

But is it really necessary? Can't you be a little lighter? Is this not precisely what leads us to question the limits? Or worse: not recognizing or interpreting correctly?

    About limits and limitations

It is likely that along this path we will set a standard that is too high to achieve, and that requires a lot of effort, a lot of concentration, a lot of detail, a lot of methodology and it's a drag.

Who knows, it may not be possible to achieve the goals without so much demand? Self-demand, which is the worst of all. Talking to some friends, I notice that many people go down a path of doubts and questions because they are like that. They don't forgive themselves, they always think they could have done more, better or differently.

Sometimes they really could, but so what? This is precisely why life gives new opportunities. We need to recognize our limits and, above all, respect them. Having clear goals, understanding that having limits does not mean that we are creating limitations on the journey we take in pursuit of our goals.

We must understand that limits are our personal and temporary boundaries and limitations are limits that have crystallized to the point of becoming permanent. It is useful and necessary to absorb these concepts in a very clear way, using the limit as a demarcation that we must go beyond only when we feel prepared for it and, above all, to clarify that limitations are imposed brakes, often based on criticism and judgments generated by fear or social deprivation.

At that point, our inner limits will not be overwhelmed by our outer limitations, and perhaps we can sometimes think a little less and thus create fewer theories.

With fewer theories, maybe we can have more clarity and time to organize.

With more time, it may not be necessary to stick to expendable details.

With less detail, the methodology is simpler.

With more simplicity, we can be less demanding and more flexible.

And being more flexible, maybe it's more fun.

So, it doesn't even take so much effort, so much concentration, so much detail to recognize and accept our limits and limitations.

It is a constant and necessary exercise, however, liberating.
