We talked to them and you can check out this really cool article:
Me without Borders: What was the idea of creating 'Reasons to Believe' like?
Reasons to believe: The idea of the happy news blog came up one morning, when I was unhappy with the number of posts “that lead nowhere” on the social network Facebook and I read a message from a friend. She posted 25 small gestures to restore faith in humanity, and it gave me a snap to the universe of cool things happening. It was the beginning. A month later, I ran a story about the habit of leaving a paid cafe for the next customer – the pending cafe – and it had 80 shares and 5 million page views.
ESF: Do you look for the stories to tell yourself?
Reasons to believe: In the beginning they were more personal stories, but after a while people started to send a lot of suggestions, so nowadays I don't look much (of course I instinctively end up finding good stories), but they send us all the time, via inbox, email, whats app... etc.
ESF: What is most exciting about this search?
Reasons to believe: It is always exciting to find stories of transformative people and projects, and to be able to renew our convictions daily.
ESF: What inspires you?
Reasons to believe: Not just telling stories, but also helping to make them, with projects that have a real impact on people's lives, like the one we did:
Meet the project
ESF: How is your work?
Reasons to believe: We have two editors, who help us write the guidelines. And I curate what's on the air every day, based on the suggestions we send each other. But we are creating a new site layout, where everyone can contribute by sending their own post in a very agile way (with a later approval filter from us).
ESF: How long has this work been going on?
Reasons to believe: Just over three years ago, the site was created on August 02, 2012.
ESF: Feel free to write something.
Reasons to believe: We are very grateful to be able to reach such a significant number of people daily, and to know that somehow we inspire or encourage them to continue believing in a better world.
