Origin of Yemanja

The legend of Iemanjá indicates that she was born from the union between the sky, Obatalá, and the earth, Odudua. While her brother, Aganju, was responsible for controlling the lands, Iemanjá became the queen of the waters, which includes the rivers and seas.

Unfortunately, Iemanjá's story is not just a happy one. One of the children she had, Orungan, was in love with her own mother. As much as she tried to dodge the young man, one day he managed to attack her.
