Personal harm on social media

Exposure on social networks is already a phenomenon of public knowledge. And even if we try to avoid some excesses, every now and then we catch ourselves committing gaffes, indiscretion and even unnecessarily exposing ourselves too much.

I've caught myself making some slips and even trying to erase the mistake. What has already been published may have already been read or even “printed” by someone.

More there are other not-so-obvious dangers. With each like, each search made in the search engine, we are leaving traces, clues about ourselves. And for whom? What will they do with this information now and in the future?

You may have already noticed that everything is interconnected. A search about living abroad that you did on Google later will turn into advertisements about how to get citizenship, etc. in your Facebook. So far cool, it looks like we're getting some help, but actually our tastes and interests are marketed to other companies by the network owner.

Personal harm on social media

looks like a modern trojan horse. We are being watched closely and for now this just seems like a marketing ploy, a commercial strategy.

But there are already studies that indicate that something deeper is happening. And that's not so blatant or obvious. So what to do?

I have acquaintances who have turned off Facebook, Instagram, etc. In the case of Facebook, posts are stored even if you no longer access your account. Unless you delete one by one in settings and activity log.

On the other hand, the social network brings people together who are physically distant and can be a good platform to advertise in groups for free, etc.

Perhaps moderation of what to like, publish, search is the option. Put less photos and personal information to protect yourself, just log in once in a while and go back to living in a more balanced way without posting every step or watching other people's lives every half hour. Moderation must be the real challenge…

And what about personal outbursts? We have to seek balance in ourselves and in real friends. Avoid exposure, as many are being victims of their own lack of balance.

I'm not here to point the finger or play the saint, as I've seen myself making some gaffes myself. But reflecting over time we see that we spend a lot of energy in the wrong focus. And life is passing like a bullet train... Enjoy real life more, enjoy children, friends, spouse, family more… We will all be less anxious and more at peace.
